COMMENTS: | I made a small number of copies of this puzzle a while back. Always liked the design, and wanted to make it again. This time around, however, I decided to put a box in the middle since I had so much room to work with. But hey! If I'm going to put a box in the middle, I may as well make it tricky to open. So, this is kind of a Frankenpuzzle - it's an interlocking burr with a unique level 6 solution, as well as a mildly tricky puzzle box replete with an engraved semi-obvious clue. The box mechanism is somewhat humidity sensitive, but will be fine in the long run due to compression shrinkage (a clue for those paying attention). The puzzle fit is excellent, and should not have a problem with humidity. This puzzle is crafted with robust half-lapped joinery for sturdy construction. Each piece is signed and dated; 24 copies made for sale. |
