COMMENTS: Originally designed by Mineyuki Uyematsu, this puzzle was also independantly discovered some years later by Ken Irvine. Since it's so difficult to establish whether or not a puzzle is truly new or not, Ken was unaware of Mine's previous discovery, and in fact the overlap was not discovered until this production run was completed.

I originally saw the puzzle because Ken was walking around IPP this summer with a box full of puzzles he had designed. They were all very good, but a couple in particular I found very interesting. The "Accordian" cube grabbed me immediately. Disassembly is very tricky - all five pieces move on the same axis, but nothing seems to want to come apart. Very devious and fun design. Thanks to Ken for letting me make a bacth!

Assembly is very good on these, with a nice fit that should be fairly tolerant of most weather conditions. It was around 65% humidity in the shop when I made them, and I purposefully had them fit a bit loose to allow for some expansion. A nice selection of exotic hardwoods, each piece beveled, each puzzle signed and dated...whats not to like! 30 copies made for sale.
